The original Village Theatre was founded by Heather Markgraf-Lowe in 1992 after she graduated with a major in Theatre from Concordia University. Shows were put on in a large, 200-seat tent in the meadow behind Mon Village Restaurant in St. Lazare. Village Theatre provided the venue and most shows were produced by associated company Hudson Productions. The original logo was taken from Heather's Hudson theatre classes and added a sun for summer theatre.
